A little history...
The Meister's tale is one of three good friends who's fates brought them together. Dan Watts, Smith Gaddy and Tom Gaddy grew up together in Eastern North Carolina. They found themselves together again in Asheville in the mid 90's. Burgermeister's was a small counter service restaurant in Downtown Asheville and was well liked by locals and tourists alike. Demand for their homemade veggie burgers seemed overwhelming. The idea was sparked to venture into wholesale veggie burger sales. Burgermeister's New Orleans Grill was closed and VeggieMeister's was born. Out of a small shop they made three delicious flavors of veggie burgers. Sold to Earth Fare, The Food Co-Op, Ingles, Harris Teeter, Sysco and to various local restaurants, they had a strong local following. Now, Dan is living in California, Smith is back in Eastern NC and Tom is back in the Burgermeister's Kitchen keeping many of the old recipies alive and creating new exciting one's. Burgermeister's offers lunch and dinner till late, with a friendly wait staff and full bar to accompany your delicious meal. So come as you are, and "Make Yourself at Home" in West Asheville.

What is a Burgermeister, you might ask? Literally it means "Mayor" in German. To us, it denotes someone with a robust spirit for life and food; someone who loves to cook for the gang, the person who always ends up in the kitchen at a party or at the BBQ grill on Sunday, the person who equally loves good food and good company and loves to share them together... that is the real meaning of the word Burgermeister. You might see a Burgermeister in one of your friends, you might even be a Burgermeister yourself.
